The First Pioneers Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1949 by employees of AT&T to provide for the financial well being of its members. It was a relatively new idea for the Lafayette area, a financial institution dedicated for the benefit of its owners. Since then, we have associated many other companies (called SEG's) and we also provide for them. We've grown, we've added checking accounts, Cajun Credit (R) credit cards, Cajun Cash (R) ATM/debit cards, a new building, voice response, our cu.online internet banking and more recently cu online bill pay. We are governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The Board serves completely voluntarily and without pay. As a member of the Credit Union, you are eligible to attend the annual meeting and vote for Board and Supervisory Committee candidates.
